Work in Progress – Mi Corazone
Mi Corazone
This deceptively simple painting has been a-long-time-a-coming, I don’t know why. (And it’s not quite finished.) I suspect it could have been executed very fast and very perfectly in something like Photoshop. But that’s not what my art is about.
Barbara Ann Brennan is a spiritual healer that I very much respect, her background is NASA and her idea of the fourth chakra is ‘I am perfect in my imperfection.’. And this includes ‘Mi Corazone’.
This is not a perfectly executed heart and rays/whatever in mathematical terms. But my instinctive feeling is that this is what counts – the emotional realness of the painting, the kinaeasthetic reality.
I like the fact that despite the subject is a bleeding heart – aka emotional pain – I still can’t resist cheering it up a little. After all, everything passes, and when you get out of an inappropriate relationship (which is what this painting reminds me of) there is a feeling of victory, of relief, of ‘Hey, I’m alive again – Hallelujah!’.

Flamenco Dancer – New Painting
I love dancing and Miami is a great place to enjoy lots of different types.
Last week I took my first tango lesson with Diane Castro, who is an excellent teacher who is really articulate and provides a wealth of information about tango. She teaches at the Coconut Grove Ballet Center (2829 Bird Ave., Miami, 33133) every Wed. at 7.30pm – 9pm.
This coming weekend the Salsa Congress is happening in Miami!
