This is the final version of Judge Zip and Major Tom’s portrait – I think. With some paintings it’s hard to tell when it’s finished and this is one of them for me. I feel I could continue to paint on this portrait, but this stopping point is good too – I’ll see what the owner thinks.
This is a more moody looking painting than a lot of mine are, and more to do with what’s going on with me than the subject. But art for me is always like that – if I eat a particular type of food or drink a particular drink there’s going to be an effect on the art. Chemistry and synergy – two of the adventures of art.
It’s also exhilarating to finish a painting!
Mi Corazone
This deceptively simple painting has been a-long-time-a-coming, I don’t know why. (And it’s not quite finished.) I suspect it could have been executed very fast and very perfectly in something like Photoshop. But that’s not what my art is about.

I love dancing and Miami is a great place to enjoy lots of different types.
Last week I took my first tango lesson with Diane Castro, who is an excellent teacher who is really articulate and provides a wealth of information about tango. She teaches at the Coconut Grove Ballet Center (2829 Bird Ave., Miami, 33133) every Wed. at 7.30pm – 9pm.
This coming weekend the Salsa Congress is happening in Miami!
